The A4 rocket, which was developed in Peenemünde can be considered the prototype of all later booster rockets, both military and civil. Both the architectural aesthetic and the operational details of the plant illustrate the totalitarian aims of the Nazi state. The building also demonstrates the massive scale and high technological standard of the testing facilities during the period.
